Frequently asked questions
Technically, enable 4x 1ch license or 1x 4ch license is the same on a single NAS. However, the license with multiple channels can only be enabled on single NAS. You cannot distribute it to different device. Prepare multiple 1ch licenses if you plan to do so.
QVR Gold is a special set that provide set of features on a NAS. Includes:
- An 8-channel license.
- Unlimited playback allows to playback recording more than 14 days.
- Can be managed by QVR Center without using the subscription-based seats.
Please Note:
- QVP devices can not apply the GOLD license because the features are already included.
- Only 1 GOLD license can be applied to the same NAS.
In simple way to explain: You are using 8 channels if you have setup 8 cameras in your site and using QVR Pro to record the videos from those 8 cameras.
The definition of channel in QVR Pro means an IP camera as a video source that is being captured by QVR Pro. Depending on the model, a camera may have multiple streams at the same time, but it will be considered as a sub-stream of a channel.
However, it is possible to assign 2 channels to a single IP camera on one NAS, but we do not recommend it because it will not work as a backup configuration if the NAS or the camera goes down. In case a backup plan for NAS is needed, consider to setup a backup server with QVR Center or QVR Pro Guard.
Some licenses allow to migrate from one NAS to another. Please refer to the documents with each license. Please note the license wants to be migrated should be de-activated first before the migration.
Contact customer supports if the NAS is broken and unable to perform the license deactivation.
More than a trial, the QVR Pro provides the first 8 channels for free. However, those channels are belonged to the NAS permanently and cannot be migrate to other devices.
